SRI stands for "Socially Responsible Investment". This umbrella term includes, on the one hand, strict sustainable investments that check ecological, social and ethical criteria. Individual controversial sectors, such as the armaments industry, can be excluded in order to influence companies accordingly or to work towards compliance with international standards.

This should be distinguished from impact investing, a type of financial investment in which the return is not the only focus; Investors pursue certain ecological and social goals. Foundations in particular are devoting themselves to this segment with great interest.
